Yoga in the Park On Winter Break See you in the Spring/Summer!
Certified yoga instructors, Barbara Wilson and Lori Stiffler lead a simple yoga session in the park for both newcomers and long-time practitioners. Bring a yoga mat or towel, water bottle and comfy clothes to stretch and move. We will greet the morning together in the fresh air of God’s creation. Did you know that May is Pride Month AND Older Adults Month? Being the Church, Long Beach will be celebrating both by hosting an important workshop on May 16 at Grace UMC. All are invited to attend. Hosted by the CSULB Gerontology Program, the workshop takes data on LGBTQ+ older adults and brings it forward as a way of understanding historical barriers and disparate treatment of this community. Areas included in the workshop: Trauma, Caregiving, Networks, Education and Next Steps.
We hope that this event on LGTQ+ Elders Day will proffer important conversation and awareness around the specific issues that challenge LGBTQ+ older adults as well as provide support and resources for the community.

Please note in advance that volunteers are on their feet and working quickly (sorting and packing food) the whole time in a warehouse. Minimum age requirement is a hard working 9 year old, otherwise 10. We will close our time together with simple prayer and communion.
LB Pride Parade

Our Being the Church congregations will again have an opportunity to join in the celebration of LB Pride.
We will start the morning together in outdoor worship, and then walk in the Pride Parade.

Servant Sunday
Farm Lot 59 is a working urban farm that specializes in growing rare and unusual varieties of flowers and organic vegetables. The farm’s mission is to incubate and inspire the culture of urban farming in our community through education, food accessibility, and by being a model of sustainable agriculture practices.
We will serve on the farm this Sunday together with simple communion and prayer. All ages are welcome!
Where: Meet at the Farm Lot 59 Parking Lot.
What to Bring: Signed Waiver (access during online registration). Water, snacks, hat, sunscreen, closed-toed shoes, garden gloves, tools.

Mobile Houseless Ministry

Together with Jumpstart Ministries, our church volunteers were serving in full force on February 24 at the LA River encampments in north Long Beach.
Rev. Dan Lewis from Grace UMC offered the grace, and served communion. Our friends seemed to be in good spirits despite the recent stormy weather.
You were most generous this time with blankets and fast food gift cards. We can always use men’s and women’s jeans and cold weather gear. Please drop off donations at church offices on Sunday mornings or during weekday hours.
Volunteers are needed for in person visits and/or sorting clothes, please contact Michael Naylor at 714-328- 1503.
Good Friday Service
The Good Friday service is Friday, March 29 at 7:00 PM. Scripture readings, darkness, and reflection will be part of this evening’s service. We will gather on the Chancel of the sanctuary (as space allows).

Maundy Thursday service will be in Hughes Hall on Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 PM. There will be a service which includes hand washing, elements of a Seder meal, scripture, a message, and Communion.

FUN Night for Youth (6th - 12th grades)

Our young adults are hosting a smash hit super FUN night for youth at a perennial favorite: Camelot Golfland in Anaheim. After pizza and drinks, we will play a full round of mini-golf together. Blessing of the Animals
Due to some unpredictable weather shenanigans, we've had to hit the pause button on our Blessing of the Animals event.
Mark your calendars and set those tail wags for Sunday, February 25th, at 1 PM. We'll be gathering at Grace on 3rd to sprinkle some extra love and blessings on our furry friends.
Whether your companion has fur, feathers, scales, or anything in between, all critters are welcome to join in the fun!
